On Sunday, January 4, 2009, the sweet spirit of Georgia Genetti passed away to a land that is free from sorrow and pain. She battled cancer for four years with a radiant smile, a positive attitude and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was so at peace with her life and her God and was looking forward to her eternal life with her parents, Frank and Flora Genetti. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 11, 1947, into a military family and had traveled the world be the time she was a young teenager. This began her love of travel and she touched everyone she ever met, no matter what race or nationality with her infectious lust for life. She was the belle of Redlands High School and went on to become a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority at San Diego State University where she graduated in 1969. One of her greatest accomplishments was her true friendship, devotion, and loyalty to her many long time friends and family. She is survived by her brother, Frank, sister-in-law, Judy, and her nephew, Ryan, who was like a son to her and her soul mate. We cannot be sad – we must be grateful that she touched our lives in a way only Georgia could, by bringing a little slice of heaven into our daily lives. She will be forever missed but never forgotten.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service to be held on Wednesday, January 14th, at 2:00 p.m. at El Camino Memorial Chapel in Sorrento Valley. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Georgia’s name to St. Jude Hospital. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and all of her caring friends for their wonderful and loving care in her final days.
