Herman Angelo Genetti (1922-2007) was the son of Ermenegildo “Joe” Genetti (1893-1967) and Dola Belle Whitman (1900-1985). He was a first generation American, born in Lincoln County, Wyoming. Herman was a great storyteller. He self-published a memoir in 1995 about growing up on the prairie and memories of his family. You can find a PDF version of his book “Herman’s Howlings” in the Gallery section of this website, under Biographies by Members of the Genetti Family.
Photograph appeared in the Pinedale Roundup, April 27, 1995.

Cover of “Herman’s Howlings” self-published in 1995 by Herman Genetti. Herman made 200 copies of the original book. Each book was signed and number, with most copies being distributed to family members. There are also a few photocopies in existence of the original soft-cover version made at a later date with several additions. Two copies of “Herman’s Howlings” are listed as part of the Lincoln County Library System book catalog.

Many Tyroleans from Castelfondo immigrated to the communities of Rock Springs and LaBarge, Wyoming. Being a close community, many families intermarried during the 1920’s and 30’s. You’ll find cousins in the following photographs share many familiar surnames from their ancestral village: Genetti, Cologna, Menghini, Yanes, Zuech and Marchetti. My thanks to John Nimmo for sharing these wonderful family memories with our website.

A great grand-niece of Pietro Genetti (granddaughter of his brother Lodovico/Louis Genetti and his wife Virginia Menghini) recently confirmed this is a portrait of Pietro (Pete) Genetti (1882-1971) and his second wife Alceste Zueck (1903-1988) married in 1939. Alceste and Pietro had one son, Paul (living), of Casper, WY.
Pietro and his first wife, Elvira Cologna (1880-1938), were the parents of Leno (1914-1984) and Bruno Genetti (1912-1942).

Terri Coletti Anderson, great-grandniece of Pietro, writes: “I am one of two granddaughters of Pietro’s brother, Lodovico (Louis) Genetti (1887 – 1971) and his wife Virginia Menghini (1888 – 1979). They had two daughters, Inez (1915 – 1987) and Ruby (1918 – 2004). I am Theresa, daughter of Inez and Clyde Coletti. My sister is Elaine.”
Webmaster’s Note: From the gravestone pictured above, I believe Louis and Virginia besides their two daughters, also had a stillborn unnamed son and a daughter who died at the young age of five years old.
Gravestone of Louis Genetti, his wife Virginia Menghini Genetti, infant son (unnamed) and young daughter Ida. Photo of tombstone courtesy of Find-A-Grave. Marker can be found in Rock Springs Cemetery, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
