Albert V. Genetti, 97; was community leader

Albert V. Genett, 97, of 533 Lincoln St., Hazleton, died Wednesday in Hazleton’s St. Joseph Medical Center.

Born in Castelfondo, Tyrol, Northern Italy, on Dec. 16, 1894, he was the son of the Damiano and Olivia [Oliva] Genetti. He came to the United States in 1903.

Genetti served as a supermarket executive for many years.

He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church, Hazleton, the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks and the Men of Malvern.

Genetti served as president of the Hazleton Lions Club from 1943 to 1944.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mildred L. Bonomo, in August 1989; a son Robert, in 1983; brothers, Leon, Gus and Stanley; and sisters, Mrs. Dora Bott and Esther Genetti.

Surviving are a son, Paul Genetti, New Tripoli, Lehigh County; a sister, Mrs. Ann McNelis, Hazleton; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Boyle Funeral Home, 100 S. Wyoming St., Hazleton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Gabriel’s Church. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service begins.
