Rose Mary Genetti Moyer

Rose Mary Moyer, 86, of Schuylkill Haven, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 5, (2012) at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Rose Mary was born in Hazleton on Jan. 26, 1926. She was a daughter of the late August and Mary (Dougherty) Genetti.

Rose Mary was a graduate of Hazleton High School and Penn State University, with a degree in home economics.

On July 12, 1951, Rose Mary married the love of her life, Charles W. Moyer Sr., to whom she was married for over 49 years.

Rose Mary was an avid reader and crossword puzzle buff. She was voted World’s Best Cook by her family for more than 60 years. She loved to shop, but mostly, she was passionate about her love for family and friends.

She was employed by Woodring’s Department Store and by her father as a receptionist, at Genetti Motor Lodge, both in Hazleton.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Moyer, of Cressona, and Sally Arthur and husband Peter, of Concord, Ohio; a son, William Moyer and wife Meg, of Sunbury; a step-daughter, Kathy Hersh and husband Richard, of Allentown; three granddaughters, Natalie, Jillian, and Allison Arthur; two brothers, Gus Jr. and William Genetti; a sister, Mary Ann Genetti; as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Moyer Sr., and a stepson Charles W. Moyer. Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose R.C. Church, Schuylkill Haven, on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

A viewing for friends and family will be held prior to Mass on Tuesday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Geschwindt Stabingas Funeral Home, 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven.

At the family’s request, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142 Memphis, TN 38148 or to American Cancer Society, Schuylkill Unit,  16 N. 4th Street Minersville, PA 17954.

Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
